The Curious Tarot

The Curious Tarot began to take form about two years ago as I realized that the images in a series of collages I was working on would interestingly represent characters and symbols of the Tarot.

I decided to call the deck complete at 38 cards simply because that was where my inspiration began to taper off, and I feel that the major arcana and court cards alone are excellent for use in readings. However, there is a very good chance that the 40 "pips" (1-10 of each suit: cups, swords, pentacles, wands) will come along later.

Handmade Decks Available

At this point I do not have a publisher, so I am slowly producing decks by hand. I have developed a process that produces beautiful, durable cards 3x5" in size. They are laser printed on cardstock and are water- and fade-resistant.

A handmade deck is currently priced at $200.00. It comes in a handcrafted wooden box with a booklet describing each card’s traditional meanings and demonstrating a basic spread.

All decks come with a "signature card". The signature card, as well as the boxes and booklets, are hand signed and numbered. This 2001 edition is a limited, first edition of 100.

Tarot images on other media

If you like particular images from The Curious Tarot, you can order them on handmade greeting cards- $4 each with an envelope, + $1 shipping. Please specify red or black* cardstock.

* I recommend black. It is very striking when inscribed in light-colored or metallic pencil or "gel pen" ink

Curious Puzzles

 

Each one is unique, because I cut them on a scrollsaw, one at a time, by hand without using any kind of pattern.

 

Shapes and sizes
The puzzles are quite challenging! The average number of pieces for a 9x12" puzzle is 90. (Puzzles can be made in almost any shape or size, however.) The puzzles are made of 3/16" thick Finland birch wood, covered on one side with durable, non-fading laser paper. The backs of the pieces are the blonde wood’s natural texture and color, lightly sealed; they can also be stained a variety of tints.

 

Choose the image for your puzzle

The images on the puzzles can come from my collages and photographs. You can choose from any that you see on the pages of this site, including The Curious Tarot, or contact me to see more. The artwork on my site will be changed periodically, so check back often to see what’s new.

Design your own puzzle

The possibilities are endless. You can send me a photo, color copy, or digital image of your own(9x12" or smaller), which I will make into a custom puzzle. Another interesting option is to send me some materials (scannable), photos, etc. that you would like to have me arrange for you, and you will get an original collage along with a custom puzzle.

Puzzles made from images you send me are the same as above, plus $10.

If you want me to make a collage from materials you send me, then make a puzzle of that collage, I will quote you a price after I get an idea of what you are sending. Use the prices above plus $20 - $100 as a guide. I can build a collage around even one small piece you send, using my own collection of materials. We can work together by phone or e-mail.
